No Longer You
No Longer You is an animatic I created to the song No Longer You from EPIC: The Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans. It features characters and a story from a personal project I am working on titled The Hall of Heroes.
Tenebris grows up in the shadow of his half brother, Caxton, always feeling less important. When the witch Erwyna chooses Caxton as her apprentice, she refuses to teach Tenebris after foreseeing darkness in his future. Hurt and angry, he runs away to the Shattered Plains, where he meets Ena. This moment is what the animatic captures.

For No Longer You, my biggest challenge was readability. Since I’ve been working on this story for so long, everything made sense to me but wasn’t always clear to others. I kept my shots simple and easy to follow without revealing too much too quickly. To help with this, I relied heavily on color, assigning specific colors to different points in time as the animatic moves between them.
